What to do before you leave for the airport
The hours before you leave for the airport can be a little hectic. You need to ensure that everything you need is packed away, you have all the paperwork required, make sure the house is safe and so on.
But it shouldn’t have to be that way. You should be calm, collected, and know exactly what needs to be done. To help, we’ve put together a list of things to do before you leave for the airport...
You’re going to be in the airport at least 2 hours before your flight. Plus, you never know when it might be delayed. So make sure you take some cash with you to grab a bite to eat, purchase some drinks, and pick up a magazine or book to pass some time. You don’t have to take a lot of cash, just enough to see you through.
If there’s one thing you don’t want to forget when you’re headed to an airport it’s your paperwork. Pick up a paper folder and keep all your documents in there. Boarding pass, passport, and everything else you’ll need. Sure, you can do it all via your smartphone nowadays but you never know when you might lose signal or your battery will go.
You’re going to want items like your phone, your kindle, and your laptop with you in your hand luggage to keep you entertained in flight. Anything else valuable should be packed into your suitcase, but make sure it’s packed away securely. Baggage handlers aren’t always so cautious with your luggage.
Switch everything off
The last thing you should do before you leave the house is make sure everything is turned off. You don’t want to come home to a huge electricity bill because you left your lights on for 2 weeks.
Make your luggage stand out
The baggage carousel can be a real nightmare. You land in hot, sunny climates, but before you can get out there to enjoy it, you need to wait for your luggage to come round. What’s worse is that every one’s suitcase looks the same. Make yours stand out with a sticker or something personal top you so that when your bag comes around you can pick it out the crowd and be on your way.
